Welcome to Team Boulder. We will be climbing on June 23rd, which is close to the longest day of the year, to shed light on perinatal mood disorders. This climb symbolizes the climb out of darkness of perinatal mental health crisis and into the light of recovery and hope. This is a time for moms, dads, family, friends, and kids, to walk together in solidarity and support of past, present, and future families.

The Climb Out of the Darkness is committed to bring people together, united, to honor the struggle to overcome PMADs.  We promote awareness, prevention and treatment of mental health issues related to childbearing in every country worldwide. We support moms & dads, community programs and healthcare providers.

Hi, I'm Joy. I'm a mom of a 2.5 year old boy and a PPD survivor. The weeks following the birth of my son were the darkest of my life. With the help of organizations like PSI and my family, I was able to rise out of the darkness and see the light again. It is not always easy, but I share my story in hopes that other moms or dads who are suffering in silence will know that they are not alone, that help is available, and that they too can heal. I hope that you, too, will join me in June in support of this amazing cause.

Climb Out of the Darkness is also a fundraiser. 50% of money raised will go into the Perinatal Action Fund and 50% will go to PSI to support their many programs that help families and educate providers around the world. The Perinatal Action Fund was created by the transfer of funds after the closure of Postpartum Progress, Inc. The Perinatal Action Fund was developed to provide funds for underserved populations within the perinatal mood disorder community. If raising money does not feel right at this time, please know it is not mandatory and we'd still love to have you walk with us- together we can make a change!
