Climb Out of the Darkness® is held on or near the longest day of the year annually to help shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The event features mothers, fathers, and others across the globe joining together to climb mountains and hike trails to represent their symbolic rise out of the darkness of perinatal mental health crises and into the light of hope and recovery.

The Newburyport will be a short (less than 2 miles) out and back on the stroller-friendly Newburyport Rail Trail, starting and ending at Cashman Park. Light snacks and water will be provided, but feel free to stay after for a BYO picnic lunch and play on the playground!

This event is FREE, registration is required, fundraising is encouraged.

Funds raised will benefit the Pentucket Perinatal Mental Health Coalition (PPMHC), with a small portion also going to the global event organizer, Postpartum Support International PPMHC's mission is to improve maternal emotional health in the Pentucket area through education, collaboration, support, and advocacy in the towns of Amesbury, Boxford, Haverhill, Georgetown, Groveland, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury, and West Newbury.
