The Climb Out of the Darkness is committed to bring people together, united, to honor the struggle to overcome Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).  We promote awareness, prevention and treatment of mental health issues related to childbearing in every country worldwide. We support moms & dads, community programs and healthcare providers.

Donate. Stand against postpartum depression.  Help us fight stigma and raise awareness of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.

My name is Kelly MacNiven, and along with my co-leader Kelly MacLaurin, we are organizing a walk for 2018 Climb Out of the Darkness. We will be walking together on Sunday, June 24th, 2018, at 10 am at the Durango Rec Center Outdoor Pavilion, to support each other, raise awareness in our community, and raise funds for Postpartum Support International.  Postpartum Support International provides direct peer support to families, training for professionals, and a bridge to connect them. You can check out their website at http://www.postpartum.net

We are asking for a $10 donation to register for our climb, which can be done on this page at the right, but please donate what you can or share this page if you can't donate. Everything helps!

When my son was born in 2012, I was diagnosed with severe postpartum depression and anxiety. It turned my life upside down and we were forced to move across the country to be back with family so I could heal and have support. It was a long road to recovery, but thankfully, I found hope in hearing the stories of others just like me, who had overcome this horrible illness and it moved me to organize my own climb. I want my community to know that there is hope, there is help, and this is 100% treatable. No one should have to suffer alone- we are all in this together. Come climb with us on June 24th, out of the darkness and into the light!
